Manufacturer's Brand Overview: [Edit]
No foam, extra hot, half-caf, no-whip, non-fat, soy latta...Enough of the Coffee House BS already! It's time to get out of the line and step up to what's next. Java Monster...premium coffee and cream, brewed up with killer flavor, supercharged with Monster energy-blend. Coffee done the Monster way, wide open, with a take on prisoners attitude and the experience and know-how to back it up. Java Monster...half the caffeine of regular coffee, twice the Buzz!

Nut-Up
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 15 fl oz (443ml) can
BevNET Review:
As far as nut flavored coffee drinks go, Monster's "Nut Up" Java Monster has a fairly pleasant flavor. The body is rich and creamy with notes of "nut" to it, although we can't really tell you what type of nut flavor it's supposed to be (almond or hazelnut?). The finish has a mild amount of energy and sweetener taste to it, but it's definitely manageable. Packaging is decent, but the eye has to search around to figure out what flavor this thing is. Overall, a decent entry, but some packaging improvements definitely wouldn't hurt.

Russian
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 15 fl oz (443ml) can
BevNET Review:
We're not really sure that stamping "Russian" on top of a beverage is going to create mass interest, but it might create some curiosity, especially since "Russian" isn't a flavor. So what is it? Well, it's a liquor flavored Java Monster, but it doesn't have any alcohol. The flavor, which tastes somewhat like a blend of hazelnut and French vanilla, is pleasant, but we're not sure that it really warrants its own SKU. Overall, enjoyable flavor, but not sure about the market potential.

Chai Hai
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 15 fl oz (443ml) can
BevNET Review:
Monster has created the first -- at least to our knowledge -- chai based ready to drink energy drink with its Chai Hai variety. The flavor starts strong, delivering a rich and creamy blend of chai. However, the more you drink it, the more the artificial sweetener starts to overpower your palate. This definitely hurts the enjoyment factor of this drink. Packaging fits the styling of the line, but there's just too much going on with the busy backdrop that they've selected. Not our favorite flavor of the lineup.

Big Black
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 15 fl oz (443 ml) can
BevNET Review:
Big Black is the straight-up coffee flavored variety of the Java Monster line. There's a noticeably stronger coffee flavor to this variety than the others, but otherwise the flavor drinks the same. On the other hand, there's something about the name "Big Black" that we don't find terribly appetizing. Still, we think that Hansen has done a nice job on this product in terms of flavor, functionality and branding. Perhaps they will finally be the company that cracks the stranglehold that is Starbuck's Frappuccino.

Loca Moca
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 15 fl oz (443 ml) can
BevNET Review:
Coffee + energy, isn't that a bit redundant? After all, Coffee is really the original energy drink. Either way, Java Monster is probably the most meaningful RTD coffee introduction since Starbucks came out with Doubleshot. Loca Moca is a meaningful evolution forward, blending ingredients typically seen in an energy drink with the taste of an RTD iced coffee. The coffee flavor is at least as good as a Starbuck's Frappuccino bottled product, plus it has a mild chocolate note to the finish. Overall, it's pleasing and, when you factor in the Monster brand, credible. The packaging, which uses the beige tones that are standard for the category, certainly looks like something we'd expect to have coffee inside. It's not necessarily the most attractive can we've ever seen for an iced coffee, but it is a good translation of the Monster brand. Overall, Loca Moca has great taste, a decent package, and packs a nice punch.

Mean Bean
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 15 fl oz (443 ml) can
BevNET Review:
Java Monster's Mean Bean variety is what you'd typically call a "French vanilla" flavored coffee drink. The added splash of vanilla does a great job of hiding any energy flavor that might otherwise be present. Plus, it adds to the creaminess of the product, making this the richest tasting flavor of the line. It would probably be nice if the can had the word "vanilla" on it, but it's not a huge deal. Otherwise, this is a well executed coffee and energy hybrid that will definitely give you a boost.
